#806 - "Three Songs" by Bajè Whitethorne, Sr.

This verse appears on the inside left portion of the card:

Singers are a very important part of Navajo culture. They not only preserve traditional songs but compose individual and contemporary songs. Groups compete, trying to out do each other, and be recognized as the best. They are judged on the sweetest song with the highest pitch and the most beautiful tone and melody. This group has been singing all night and as the sun rises they continue their romantic song to the sweetest girl they know.

The curtain of daybreak is hanging, The Daylight Boy (it is hanging).
From the land of day it is hanging.
Before him, as it dawns, it is hanging, Behind him, as it dawns, it is hanging.
Before him, in beauty, it is hanging, Behind him in beauty it is hanging.
From his voice, in beauty, it is hanging

First Daylight Song, Dinè (Navajo)

Verse in Navajo: ayóó'íinísh'ní (I Love You)
